Rui En plays Hu Xiao Man, a female inspector in CID, leading her team to crack minor cases, mainly missing people, etc. To achieve her motives, she would resort to unscrupulous methods in order to extract information. Having the looks, she is not denied of potential suitors and admirers but only has her eyes on fellow inspector, Zhang Yu Ze (Tay Ping Hui).


Case One

Yan De Wei (Andie Chen) receives a tip-off about a human trafficking transaction and informs Xiao Man, who leads her team to the scene. Lin Zheng Yi/Da Bao (Chen Li Ping) receives a phonecall from her "Dad" and immediately alerts Shan Fan (Zheng Ge Ping) that the police are in the process of invading the building.

Little known that the "Dad" was Yu Ze and Zheng Yi is working undercover for him.



Xiao Man was only able to release the girls in the operation and suspected a leak in info. De Wei confessed he did mention on passing about the operation to a friend in Yu Ze's unit and thus was submitted to a harsh scolding from Xiao Man.

Shan Fan laid a trap to find out the mole in his gang and forced Zheng Yi to kill him with an overdose of stimulants. To protect her own identity, Zheng Yi did it reluctantly, knowing that she should be the one to die instead of him.



In addition, Shan Fan laid another trap to cover up a big scale transaction, which thanks to Yu Ze's quick wits, was blotched. Yu Ze and Shan Fan were caught in a face-off with Zheng Yi witnessing from her hideout. Shan Fan tried to bribe Yu Ze and in that crucial moment, Zheng Yi was attacked by one of her own gang, who she had exposed her cover in front of.

Shan Fan, Yu Ze and the money disappeared without a trace after that night..


Case Two

With Yu Ze's disappearance, Zheng Yi looks for Xiao Man upon his pre-emptive instructions. Xiao Man, however, having a brush with her initially, interrogates Zheng Yi, believing that she knows the reason behind Yu Ze's disappearance and threatens to erase her undercover records, making Zheng Yi a criminal. Zheng Yi denies and eventually Xiao Man releases her.



Xiao Man went to Yu Ze's apartment in search of clues of his disappearance, but was taken aback by the unlocked door and the mess in the living room. She came upon Zheng Yi in the room who explained that someone had gave the unit a thorough search before her. Andrew Kwan (Rayson Tan) confronts Xu Zhi Rong/Xiao Lang (Wang Yu Qing) at the void deck of Yu Ze's apartment who shows him a threatening note found in the unit. Andrew for fear of implicating a 15 year old case, decides to declare that Yu Ze had disappeared along with the money.

Hao Dong again creates a ruckus at the HQ while Xiao Man is passing by. De Wei briefly explains the story behind Hao Dong's actions and Xiao Man agrees to help him, not knowing Hao Dong is insisting that his daughter, Xiu Ling, declared dead in a crash in Malaysia, is still alive. Xiao Man later blames De Wei for not clarifying and getting her into this mess.



On the other hand, Xiao Man receives a kidnapping case. Clues suggests that Hao Dong's supposedly deceased daughter is the criminal. Xiao Man enlists Zheng Yi's help, who locates Xiu Ling via a pimp..

Zheng Yi visits Shi San's (Joshua Ang) mother at the rehabilitation center, where she notices a lady with a tattoo similar to Shan Fan's..


Case Three

Andrew, upset with Xiao Man's defiant behavior in searching for Yu Ze despite his commands, ordered her to investigate a pile of cold cases involving missing people. Xiao Man later on passes the stack of case files to Zheng Yi, including the file for her missing dad.

Ah Ni drags Zheng Yi to consult a popular tarot master, Xing Chen, and met a couple whose kid went missing. Xing Chen forecasts the location and time the boy would reappear and Zheng Yi, having recognise the photo of the boy the parents are holding with the photo in one of the case files, contacts Xiao Man and stalks out the place that Xing Chen had mentioned.

True to his words, the boy appeared, dressed in an outlandish fashion as a doll. Xiao Man gave chase to a clown that was trying to move off from the scene but was given the slip.



De Wei interviews Cao Pin and Mei Yue on their son's (Cao Bo) disappearance. Xiao Man noticed from an old photo that Cao Pin and Mei Yue were part of a band, which includes Xing Chen and Zhen Bang (Zzen). Zheng Yi is suspicious of Zhen Bang and got Ah Ni (Zhou Ying) to dress up like a princess in order to test him. Ah Ni revealed that Zhen Bang seems out of sorts facing him and Zheng Yi is certain that Zhen Bang is related to the case of the missing boys reappearing dressed up as dolls. They stalked Zhen Bang and were assaulted.



Xiao Man and Zheng Yi reinvestigates Cao Bo's disappearance and discovers that Mei Yue's (Priscelia Chan) statement did not tally with the witnesses on scene. Xing Chen was found dead with a blunt weapon wound..

Xiao Man's mum, Qiu Jun (Xiang Yun), introduces Xiao Man to Dylan, a promising lawyer at her law firm..


Case Four



A tuition teacher falls to her death in front of Xiao Man and Zheng Yi. A head probes out from the roof. Xiao Man gave chase but the suspect escaped by locking the gates of the rooftop access. Zheng Yi follows the trail of a suspicious guy into an alley and was confronted with a gun. Xiao Man looks into past cases and notices a similarity between them.

Meanwhile, Guo Sheng's (Huang Zong Yao) girlfriend, Shu Zhen, falls to her death at his condo. The eyewitness noticed Yu Ze in a car near the scene, which only serves to confirm the rumours at HQ, that Yu Ze had asconded with the money and is now killing off those involved in the case 15 years ago.

Luo Zhong Xiao (Shaun Chen) bumped into Zheng Yi while she was collecting the items of the female victim that had fallen to her death. Zheng Yi uses her network to check for any big purchases of drugs and received a clue. Xiao Man checks out the car plate, which belongs to Dylan. She leads a team to Dylan's house and brings him in for questioning.

Upon investigating the mud from the victim's shoes, the trail leads to the polo club and to Luo Zhong Xiao. Xiao Man talked Ah Ni into helping her as a bait. In the process, Ah Ni's cover was exposed and Zhong Xiao held her captive later on, hence sparking a hunt for her..



While accompanying Shi San to his dad's house for the reading of his will, Zheng Yi notices Qiu Jun's change in behavior after receiving a phone call and decides to follow her, where she saw her handing a cheque over to a gigolo..

Case Five

Guo Sheng was found dead in an old warehouse. Xiao Man arrives at the scene even though she was not part of the investigation team. De Wei, working as a double agent for Andrew and Xiao Man, told Xiao Man that he had approached Xiao Lang after his meet up with Andrew and had told him what had happened 15 years ago.

Andrew suspended Xiao Man from her duties as she had repeatedly defied his orders not to probe into Yu Ze's case. Xiao Man follows Xiao Lang during her suspension and witnessed him being shot by a car racing by. She vaguely saw 2 people in the car and is sure that Yu Ze had an accomplice, possibly Chai Zhi Yong, the son of the deceased Chai De Xing (Chen Tian Wen), who was accidentally killed 15 years ago.



Zheng Yi starts an agency to help locate missing people at her shop, and was immediately approached by a disfigured and weird Qiu Mei to look for a certain Mei Lin.

When the person in the picture was located, she denies that she is Mei Lin and the agitated Qiu Mei, unable to control herself, pushes her to the ground. Both Xiao Man and Zheng Yi are puzzled over this case.

Xiao Man's team receives a tip-off and arrives at an old warehouse where they found photos of Xiao Lang, Guo Sheng, and Andrew. As a couple of her team mates were assaulted, De Wei and Xiao Man gave chase..

With all the involved being murdered one by one, Andrew fears for his life and asks Xiao Man for protection. He was assigned to a safehouse but later broke his way out to the rooftop. Xiao Man chases him down at gun point..



Zheng Yi hands the cheque that she had gotten from the gigolo to Xiao Man and tells her that it was from her mum. Xiao Man confronts Qiu Jun who got angry that she is still investigating the disappearance of her father even after she had told her not to.

Xiao Man visits the gigolo, Thomas Kok (Yang Wei Lie), and was on the verge of finding out information abt her dad when Thomas collapsed and died from an anaesthesia allergy.



Dylan, being Thomas's friend from his autism days at the psychology treatment center, arranged his funeral and elaborates to Zheng Yi of their days at the center.

Backtracing his trails, Xiao Man and Zheng Yi spotted Mei Lin with an injured arm. While interrogating Mei Lin over her identity, Xiao Man received news that Qiu Mei's body was found at a river and arrests Mei Lin on the spot as a suspect.

During the interrogation, Mei Lin reveals the hidden truth behind the disappearance of Xiao Man's father..

Investigating deeper, Xiao Man traces the whereabouts of Chai Zhi Yong's uncle and headed to visit him in a mental institute in Malaysia. There, she was attacked by someone she presumes is Chai Zhi Yong and was knocked unconscious. She wakes up handcuffed in a rundown house with food and water within her reach.

Meanwhile, Zheng Yi was celebrating Ah Bi's (Yu Ze's adopted kid which Zheng Yi had taken custody of) when she realised the importance of the date and why Yu Ze nor Chai Zhi Yong had not taken any action for the past month..

This is the first time since n years that I rushed home and prepare myself comfortably in front of the TV at 9pm without missing an episode! Ok there's one narrow miss, reaching home at 8.55pm and showered in 5 min to the point that my mum was exclaiming WHY SO GANCHIONG!?!

A very very good show from Mediacorp, finally something different from the melodramas, period shows, etc. The plots are pretty new, esp. for Cases Three and Four, which deals with psychopaths's mentality and all questions are being answered towards the end of the show, thou I find the last episode too draggy, full of Xiao Man's narration and not as good as the 2nd last.

Yes I'm biased towards crime shows.

Rui En is very suited for these kind of shows, with her cool status and toned (or skinny) physique. Just a little uncomfortable over her facial expressions when she tries to be mean during interrogations. And she tends to shout a bit too much, a bit too fake.


Weet! Tomb Raider?

Don't be mistaken, I do like her protrayal of Xiao Man.

Chen Li Ping, though criticised for being too fat for a informant, showed that she is not jus good in family dramas and defended her Best Actress title.



I jus wonder why the 2 of them are in the same Raybans and Converse white shoes. Sponsership?

And the exaggerated bullet-proof suits??

Zzen might probably win an award with his display of the man who is unable to shake off the trauma from his youth.

And I'm leaning towards a Dylan x Xiao Man more than Yu Ze x Xiao Man. Dylan is suave!!~

Now I can only occupy my weekday nights with OKTO documentaries at 10.. Unriddle withdrawals already!
